Who we are
BrainSpark is an independent product run by a single person. If you have any question about your data, or want it deleted, email support@brainspark.com and we will respond within 30 days.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address and a securely hashed password when you create an account, or your Google account email if you sign in with Google.
- What you type or photograph. Homework questions, activity requests, bedtime story ideas and any photo of a worksheet you upload, so we can produce an answer for you.
- Child profile details you choose to add. A first name (or nickname), age, interests and notes. Please do not add surnames, addresses, school names or anything else that could identify your child.
- Payment details. Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we only store whether a subscription is active.
- Usage data. Pages visited, buttons used, device type, approximate country, and an anonymous device identifier used to count your free sessions.
Why we use it
To create the explanations, activities and stories you ask for; to keep your saved history; to take payment and manage subscriptions; to keep the free trial fair; and to understand which parts of the site work so we can improve them.
Children
BrainSpark is for parents and adults. Accounts are for adults only — children should not create accounts or enter their own details. We deliberately ask for as little about your child as possible, and a first name alone is enough.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use a small number of service providers to run BrainSpark:
- Our hosting and database provider, which stores your account and saved sessions.
- An AI model provider, which receives the question or photo you submit in order to generate the response. We do not send your name or email with it.
- Stripe, for payments.
- Website analytics and the Meta pixel, which record anonymous usage so we can measure how well our ads and pages perform.
How long we keep it
Account data and saved sessions are kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we remove your profile, child profiles and saved sessions. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Anonymous usage statistics may be kept in aggregate.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EU you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how we use it. Email support@brainspark.com. You may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Cookies and similar technology
We use storage in your browser to keep you signed in and to count your free sessions, plus analytics and advertising cookies described above. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings; signing in will then be required again.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Our terms of use are here.
